MEET THE CREATIVE DIRECTOR

Designer of the Royal x Richie collection, Jermaine Richards offers an essential creative perspective by incorporating his Nigerian and Jamaican cultural roots into his stunning designs.

Born in Kingston, Jamaica, I was born into a very poor family in the ghettos of Waterhouse. I was the first boy of my late mother and the tenth of my father's. For the short amount of years I spent with my mother I remember having so little, but she always made sure that we lived within our means. At the age of four I was placed in an orphanage, and in such a situation only the fittest of the fit survive. While there, I was taught to be a man that could cook, clean, dress, and read for oneself. I made use of every single opportunity that came my way, from graduating high school at the top of my class to attending and graduating teacher's college with honors. After college, I worked as Special Education teacher for five years in Jamaica before teaching English and Visual Arts in Japan for a year.

After living in Japan for a year, I decided that I no longer wanted to teach. Instead, I developed an insatiable desire to be immersed into the world of fashion. Getting dressed came with pleasure and excitement, even if it was to just go to the gym. To make this desire reality, I moved to New York in 2014. At that time I worked odd jobs to keep afloat while keeping my dreams of fashion in sight. Since then, I have had the opportunity to make my dreams of fashion a reality through a variety of my work: retail sales ambassador, fashion blogger, model, influencer, fashion buyer, and now a Creative Content Director for Cleo Nicci.

I am proud to continue to grow in the fashion world as the Creative Director for Cleo Nicci, but more importantly grow with the Cleo Nicci Company and Family.  I look forward to bring you more and exciting eyewear collections that will be the fashion statement you never knew you needed.
